How it works

  1. A kid dreams up a character
  2. A grown-up sends it in
  3. We turn it into a comic

From drawing to comic

A grown-up sends a photo of the drawing. We turn it into a real comic page, with the kid's character, ideas, and first name.

The drawing
Sample kid's crayon drawing of Sparky, a yellow dragon with teal spots, one red wing and one teal wing.
The comic
Sample four-panel comic, Sparky Takes Off: Sparky is nervous to fly, a blue bird says just flap and believe, and Sparky soars over a town shouting I can fly.

This is a sample made by the Kid Canon team to show the idea. 'Maya' is a made-up name. Our first real Founding Comics are coming soon.

How we make our comics

Every Kid Canon comic starts with your child's own drawing.

  • We use AI tools to help bring their character to life as a comic, and a person on our team guides, checks and finishes every one.
  • Kids' work is never used to train AI.
  • We only ever share kids' first names, with a grown-up's permission.
  • Grown-ups send a photo or scan of the drawing. Please don't include photos of your child.

Questions grown-ups ask

What does it cost?

Founding Comics are free right now. Pricing will come later, and we'll share it before anyone pays anything.

How long does it take?

About one week after we pick your kid's drawing. We move fast, and a person still checks and finishes every page.

What do I get?

A comic page starring your kid's own character, made from their drawing. You'll get it by email as a high-quality digital file, ready to view, print at home, or share.

Can I share it?

Yes. Share it with family, friends, and your class. Please don't sell it or use it in ads, and keep the credit to your kid's first name.

Who owns it?

Your child keeps ownership of their characters and drawings. You give Kid Canon permission to adapt and share the comic on our site and social media, crediting by first name only. See our Privacy page. Ask anytime and we'll take it down.

Is AI used?

Yes. The comics are AI-assisted, and a human reviews and finishes every page. Kids' work is never used to train AI.

Can my kid send it themselves?

Kids under 13 never submit directly. A parent, guardian, teacher, or librarian (18+) sends it.

For teachers & classrooms

Teachers & librarians: want your class or library to take part? Email hello@kidcanon.com and tell us about your group. We'll share how classroom submissions and permissions work. We'll send a simple permission slip home, and only kids whose grown-up signs it are included, credited by first name only. Founding Comics are limited, so we'll talk about what fits your group.
